Longworth Open Gardens, June 2023

On a hot and sunny June afternoon we offered 10 much loved gardens and Longworth Allotments. All were happy to share their space for local folks to get inspired or simply wonder around. It was wonderful to see gardens of all shapes and sizes and to see what the home gardens and allotments really liked in terms of planting, seating and grass.

Teas, cakes, and for the first time a Pimms bar, were served in The Old Rectory garden. This all took place under an old apple tree giving the desired shade as it was such a lovely warm day.

Oxford Cow Ice creams were busy on the high street serving their delicious homemade ice creams!

We had 182 visitors and raised £1197.50 for the local charity HALF. This has been very generously match funded by Veronica Jackson’s company - Beazley Group. Totally amazing and so generous.

Huge thanks to all who visited and enjoyed the day and to those who made the day happen, with planning, administration, those who opened their garden, the cake bakers, the tea and Pimms servers, those who lugged furniture and to all who supported and us in so many ways. You know who you are; a huge heartfelt THANK YOU.

All in all a very happy community day which was tremendously warm in atmosphere and warm in ambient temperature. What joy!
